St George's Diamond Jubilee 2012

Single malt English Whisky Queen's Diamond Jubilee Commemorative Bottling.

Specially bottled to celebrate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee 1952-2012 by St George's whisky distillery made using barley grown on the Sandringham Estate (the country retreat of Her Majesty The Queen).

Only 3,300 decanters have been made available bottled at 46% ABV.

St George’s (England)

St. George’s Distillery is situated at Roudham, between Cambridge and Norwich in Norfolk, England  Opened at the end of 2006 and the first distillery in England to produce malt whisky in over a hundred years. St. George’s Distillery is equipped with two copper stills and water is extracted from an aquifer deep beneath the distillery. Around thirteen barrels of St. George’s spirit are produced per week, just one more than Edradour which is one of the smallest distilleries in Scotland. Both peated and unpeated malt whisky is being matured and bottled at St. George’s Distillery.

Nose: Warming and spicy. Baked apples with sultanas, vanilla, dried apricots, slight toffee and malty overtones, hints of cloves and cinnamon spice. With water the nose opens up to reveal more green apple, cinnamon and almonds with a very slight hint of aniseed.

Palate: Again, warming and spicy, think white pepper. The crisp maltiness tingles on the tongue. Rich fruits and cloves. Sweet with hints of candyfloss. Nice long sweet, dry malty finish.
